'David Roberts has been making pots full time from his Yorkshire studio since 1981. This is his third solo show at the Scottish Gallery and we are also representing his work at Collect at the Victoria & Albert Museum from 8 – 12 February, Stand No. 34.

Public collections include: Bolton Art Gallery; Huddersfield Art Gallery; Leeds City Art Galleries; National Museums of Scotland; National Museums of Wales; Ulster Museum; Victoria & Albert Museum, London.'

This is a very special exhibition for me. It is the first UK show of my work for some years since moving studio. My original studio occupied the whole of a lovely but dilapidated old barn which has now been renovated into a stunning new home and studio. During this period, I was unable to make ceramics for over 18 months. I am taking the opportunity offered by this Scottish Gallery exhibition to celebrate my return to making with 12 related vessels of new form and new surface. I remember when first introduced to art many years ago at Bretton Hall College an often repeated mantra of the initial design course was a quote from Paul Klee ‘take a line for a walk’. Well, in this show I have taken many lines for 12 different walks. This image, the paintings of Jackson Pollock and the paths, tracks and walls crossing my local landscape have provided the content and thematic material for my pieces in this exhibition. I hope the sheer joy of making these works is conveyed in the finished pieces’ .
